Knoxville Holiday Events – 5 Events You Won’t Want To Miss
‘Tis the season in Knoxville. Thanksgiving is next weekend. The cool winter weather has just begun to set in. It is the time of year for epic holiday shopping adventures, holiday parties, gatherings with family and friends, and enjoying the holiday cheer.
The greater Knoxville area has many holiday events for residents to enjoy, here are few that you won’t want to miss this 2016 holiday season.
Knoxville Fantasy of Trees
The Fantasy of Trees takes place this year on November 23rd to November 27th. It helps raise money for the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. Wander through a winter wonderland with over 350 beautifully decorated trees, mantles, and table centerpieces, all of which are for sale. Throughout the weekend there is a wide variety of events, including live music, dancing, and other entertainers that help raise money for the event. The event is held at the Knoxville Convention Center.
Knoxville’s Holidays on Ice
Come take advantage of Market Square’s full sized ice rink in the heart of downtown, presented by Home Federal Bank. The rink is open from Friday, November 25th until Sunday, January 8th. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for kids. Admission includes skate rental and unlimited time on the ice.
Pigeon Forge Trolley Tours
This year is Pigeon Forge’s 27th annual Winterfest, which begins in November and runs through the end of January. Winterfest celebrates the winter season in Pigeon Forge through a wide array of events. The best way to take advantage of Winterfest during the holiday season is to enjoy their spectacular light displays on a trolley tour. Visitors get to enjoy viewing all of the lights from an enclosed trolley car. Nightly trolley tours start on November 8th and run each night at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m. Each ride is $5 per person.
Tour De Lights
On Friday, December 16th, Knoxville residents are able to take part in a free bike parade through downtown. Participants are encouraged to get creatives with lights, costumes, and decorations to take part in a decorating contest. Judging for the decorating contest begins at 6 p.m. with the bike ride beginning at 7 p.m. The route is 5 miles long and takes about an hour to complete. At the time of the parade, all streets will be closed off to traffic. Hot cocoa and treats will be provided by the Mast General Store and Three Rivers Market.
New Year’s On The Square
There is no better place to celebrate the new year in Knoxville than in Market Square. On Saturday, December 31st come to Market Square to celebrate the new year. There is live music, festival foods, and fireworks and a countdown at midnight.
