‘Tis the season in Knoxville. It is the time of year for epic holiday shopping adventures, holiday parties, gatherings with family and friends, and enjoying the holiday cheer. The greater Knoxville area has many holiday events for residents to enjoy, here are few Knoxville holiday events that you won’t want to miss this 2015 holiday season.
Come take advantage of Market Square’s full sized ice rink in the heart of downtown, presented by Home Federal Bank. The rink is open from Friday, November 27th until Monday, January 18th. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for kids. Admission includes skate rental and unlimited time on the ice.
This year is Pigeon Forge’s 26th annual Winterfest, which begins in November and runs through February. Winterfest celebrates the winter season in Pigeon Forge through a wide array of events. The best way to take advantage of Winterfest during the holiday season is to enjoy their spectacular light displays on a trolley tours. Visitors get to enjoy viewing all of the lights from an enclosed trolley car. Nightly trolley tours start on November 12th and run each night at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m. Each ride is $5 per person.
XFinity Christmas in Chilhowee
On Friday, December 11th from 6 to 9 p.m. come celebrate the lighting of the tree in Chilhowee Park. The event is free and has something for all ages. There will be live music, train rides for kids, pictures with Santa, marshmellow roasting, and face painting. Attendants are also able to decorate a gingerbread house with the Austin East Culinary Department.
On Friday, December 18th, Knoxville residents are able to take part in a free bike parade through downtown. Participants are encouraged to get creatives with lights, costumes, and decorations to take part in a decorating contest. Judging for the decorating contest begins at 6 p.m. with the bike ride beginning at 7 p.m. The route is 5 miles long and takes about an hour to complete. At the time of the parade, all streets will be closed off to traffic. Hot cocoa and treats will be provided by the Mast General Store and Three Rivers Market.
There is no better place to celebrate the new year in Knoxville than in Market Square. On Thursday, December 31st come to Market Square to celebrate the new year. There is live music, festival foods, and fireworks and a countdown at midnight. Knoxville’s New Year’s on the Square is a family friendly event.
