Walls layered with awkward family photos? Large murals of cartoon characters? Or, a room dedicated to Star Wars memorabilia?
There are some pretty crazy Knoxville homes for sale out there. As a Realtor, you become accustomed to strange homes, but as a buyer you may become a little bit shellshocked by some of the oddities.
It can be a pretty common problem for buyers to be so distracted by the little things in a home that they fail to see the overall potential of a home. Here are 3 things to ignore in your Knoxville home search.
A house that is covered with a crazy paint scheme or dated, floral wallpaper can quickly cause a buyer to run the opposite direction and understandably so.
It can sometimes be hard to imagine a home beyond its crazy paint job or bad wallpaper. Still, as a buyer, it’s important to try and see the potential in every home. Things like updating paint, flooring, or light fixtures can make a huge difference in a home. If the price of a home takes into account these things, then there is nothing wrong in having to do a little updating on your own when you move in.
If you have the time to complete these projects before you move in, it will be like moving into a completely new home.
When a bonus room is turned into a man cave or a the third bedroom has been turned into a gym, it can be sometimes hard to imagine the room as something else. When a room has been converted into something totally different than what it was, it can be hard to see what it used to be or what it could be.
Still, it’s important to keep in mind that these rooms can be easily converted into something when you move in. The gym in the third bedroom can easily be converted into a gorgeous extra bedroom, with a fresh coat of paint.
Finally, one of the largest things you should ignore during your Knoxville home search is a seller’s personal items. This can be one thing that can be difficult for many buyers.
When a home is covered with family pictures from wall to wall, it can sometime be hard to picture yourself living there. Generally, it is best when homes are neutral for buyers, but not all sellers are willing to do that.
Instead of seeing a home with all of the pictures and personal items, you need to look past these items and see what the home could be for you.
