Knoxville Named One Of The Best Cities To Buy A Forever Home By Realtor.com

With two of the biggest generations in American history poised to enter prime home buying years, the next big real estate boom is almost here, according to Realtor.com.

Baby boomers and millennials are the two largest generations in American history. Both generations are poised to enter prime ages where they’d be looking to buy their next home. Baby boomers are looking to buy their forever home and millennials are looking to buy their first starter home.

With these two large generations out on the prowl for homes, Realtor.com wanted to identify the best metro cities to buy a home in these catagories.

To help identify which cities would be the best for each of these home types, Realtor.com looked at what each generation would looking for in a home. Millennials are often concerned with affordability and a good location close to amenities and work. Baby boomers, on the other hand, are wanting to live in milder climates and are looking at low maintenance homes. They looked at 250 of the largest metropolitan areas and limited one ranking per state.

Knoxville was among the top cities to buy a forever home. In order to appear on the forever home list, Realtor.com examined the top places with a population of residents 60 or older, median list price, and the number of people 55 years or older moving to the city.
